Visa Applicant Qualifications

Previously issued a digital nomad visa from another country

Experienced digital nomads: At least 30 years old with an annual income of $40,000 USD in either of the past two years

Young digital nomads: Between 20 and 30 years old with an annual income of $20,000 USD in either of the past two years

Application Process

Step Description
Confirm Eligibility

Provide proof of meeting one of the following conditions: previously issued a digital nomad visa from another country; experienced digital nomads at least 30 years old with an annual income of $40,000 USD in either of the past two years; young digital nomads between 20 and 30 years old with an annual income of $20,000 USD in either of the past two years.
Prepare Application Documents

Please prepare the following documents:

  • Visa application form (must be completed online via 'Online Visa Application', print the form with barcode, and personally sign to confirm)
  • Two 2-inch color photos taken within the last 6 months (with white background)
  • Original passport and photocopy
  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months with blank pages (excluding temporary or emergency passports)
  • Please photocopy the passport information page including the photo
  • Remote work certification
  • Personal resume or portfolio (including educational and professional background)
  • Valid work contract (employees should provide employment contract/freelancers should provide project contracts)
  • Plan for stay in Taiwan
  • Documentation proving eligibility
  • Passport notation or proof of another country's digital nomad visa
  • Proof of annual income
  • Regular deposit certificate from the past 6 months (average monthly deposit of $10,000 USD)
  • International medical insurance certificate (medical and hospitalization insurance for the planned duration of stay in Taiwan)
Apply for Visa
  • If the applicant is outside the territory of the Republic of China, the application should be submitted to the Republic of China's overseas mission.
  • The overseas mission will forward the application to the National Development Council for qualification review.
  • After passing the qualification review, the applicant needs to go to the overseas mission again for visa review.
  • If the applicant enters with visa-free status or holds a non-extendable general social visit, tourism, or business purpose stay visa, they must apply for a visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs 10 working days before the stay period expires.
  • The Bureau of Consular Affairs will conduct a qualification review, followed by a visa review upon approval.
  • If the visa cannot be obtained before the stay period expires, the applicant must leave the country as required.
  • If necessary, the applicant will be required to attend an interview.
Receive Visa

When the visa is approved, your passport will include visa-related certification.
